Philip Morris to produce heat-not-burn tobacco in the Philippines

[Manila = Yuichi Shiga] Philip Morris International (PMI), a major US tobacco company, will be in the Philippines on September 28.heated cigaretteannounced that it will begin production ofIt will invest 8.8 billion pesos (about 22 billion yen) in an existing ignition cigarette factory to build a new production line.Filipino adultsmoking rateis expected to exceed 20%, and demand is expected to switch to smokeless heating systems.

Through PMFTC, a joint venture with LT Group, a conglomerate led by Filipino businessman Lucio Tanheated cigarettestarted local production ofIt is expected to start commercial production from around October to December 2023 at a factory in Batangas Province, which is located in the south of northern Luzon Island.
